Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Silver Compass only accepts private payments. The logistics of billing insurance with the requirement of diagnosing client's with a mental illness isn't in line with our belief that counseling services should be available to everyone- regardless of if they're diagnosable. Insurance also does not cover case management services.
Is there a limit on the number of sessions per week or per month?
No, but we do believe in the therapeutic process, which requires space and time to work towards goals. Elizabeth will work with you in developing the best schedule based on your expressed need. If you need more than one session a week, consider our Membership options.
What do I need to do to prepare for my counseling session?
Please have pets in a secure location. Decide where you want to meet- possibly the kitchen table, home office, or livening room. Be sure to have your chosen area free from clutter. You do not need to offer refreshment or other things you might to a guest.
What if my family is home during our session? Is that okay?
Of course, but sessions are encouraged to be private to ensure comfort and confidentiality. Please be mindful when scheduling.
Can we meet in public?
Yes, BUT a notice of limited privacy will have to be signed for public locations. Please think about how you would feel seeing someone you know in public before making the decision. And how you would feel if they heard a private conversation.
Are costs negotiable, do you offer a sliding scale?
Costs have been thoughtfully created with consideration given to travel and the exclusiveness of service. For that reason, they are fixed. Sessions can be packaged for cost savings.
When and how are payments made?
Payments are due before or at the time of service. We partnered with Square for easy online payments. Checks are also accepted.
Is Membership required?
Memberships are not required for counseling services. In fact, they are limited in offering due to the high contact nature.
What if you notice that I or my loved one needs support at home?
If Elizabeth has concerns about the home environment she will speak to the client about this first, then family, or their primary care doctor. Elizabeth is skilled at case management and can help get more services at home.
(Please see the Case Managment tab for more)
What if I don't think Elizabeth is a good fit for me?
That's no problem! Elizabeth understands that personalities and needs can effect the therapeutic relationship, and you might want to see a different counselor. In home providers are nonexistent on Cape Cod, but Elizabeth will however give you resources to find another provider who offers in office support or telehealth.
